Brasserie Gembloux.beer

Brasserie Gembloux.beer

The Gembloux.beer project was created in 2019 with the primary aim of producing Bière de l'Abbaye de Gembloux on its native Gembloux land. This beer was created in 1980 by a professor and students at Gembloux Agro Bio-Tech (University of Liège). Created in Gembloux in 1980 but initially brewed by Brasserie Dupont (Tourpes) and then by Brasserie Lefebvre (Quenast), Bière de l'Abbaye de Gembloux was never produced on site until recently with the Gembloux.beer project.

Gembloux students still own the brand, and the brewery is responsible for production and commercial development. The Association Générale des Etudiants de Gembloux Agro Bio-Tech also owns 6% of the company.

The Agro Gembloux Invest cooperative has also joined the adventure in 2019, with the financial participation of over 200 cooperators in the project, which aims to be community-based.

As well as producing Bière de l'Abbaye de Gembloux, the brewery has developed a full range of products, including a pilsner, an IPA, a berry beer, a triple scotch ale, barrique beers and seasonal or ephemeral products.

State-of-the-art brewing facilities and the expertise and knowledge contributed by the various research units at Gembloux Agro Bio-Tech (Université de Liège) enable the project to promote itself as "La Brasserie Universitaire".

Cheers!
